The rapid rise of The Girl Skateboard Company inspired the creation of Chocolate the following year to accommodate Rick Howard and Mike Carroll's close friends. The original team consisted of Chico Brenes, Gabriel Rodriguez, Paulo Diaz, Keenan Milton, Richard Mulder, Shamil Randle and Ben Sanchez. In August 2014 Chocolate celebrated its 20th anniversary, cementing its status as one of the most recognized brands in skateboarding.
